You should focus on mechanical watches. Quartz timepieces, almost no exceptions, seldom appreciate in value, and many have their price dropped sharply after being worn on a wrist. If you look carefully, you will find the greatest value in vintage watches: the “new old stock”. These fake watches were never sold before and found a nice spot in the seller’s deposit or drawer. Many of them need a careful inspection and perhaps an overhaul (lubrification, change of gaskets, etc.) 
But we’d better resist the desire to replace specific parts of a vintage replica watch, such as dial, hands, or bezel. If you’d like to do so to make it looks better, keep the original parts in an envelope, in case you want to sell the watch someday, you can still get the parts re-installed. Some repair shops “restore” (change!) the dial, leaving the watch devaluated. The most you can do is ask a specialist to clean the dial, but without changing its original design.
Remember, do not buy a watch because of its blue-chip brands, such as Rolex, Patek, or Cartier. Buy it because you like it, and keep it running not in a dark box, Regular winding is necessary. For starters, we recommend Omega, one of the most qualified and famous watch brands, with many collectible pieces. You can buy a gold-plated Seamaster from the 1970s at the price of US$1,000. It is equipped with an automatic movement and comes with a leather strap or metallic bracelet. It is simple, clean and also it has a date window at 3 o’clock (some versions have a day window, too).
Created in 1965 and released in 1968, the Dynamic is one of my favorite brands, featuring an elliptical ergonomic case. It has many options of dial, strap, and case material; also, you can choose between manual and automatic winding movements. It has a more relaxed look than the Seamaster, making the fake Rolex watch perfect to wear for work. Prices range from US$250 to US$900, depending on the state.
Longines, another brand from the Swatch Group, is considered a brand of elegance, with an inexpensive price point. You will find many great replicas of Longines watches from the 1950s and 1960s, for example. In this brand, founded in 1832 by Auguste Agassiz, you can find many 18k gold cases, something that in most other brands covered here will take you to a higher price point.
